 Note From Managing Director

We are excited to announce that our brand new Riviera Platinum 5400 Sport Yacht has began the first stage of build and has just come out of hull lamination. This stunning vessel will be based in Queensland and will relocate across the east coast each year. In light of our new Akuna Bay office, I’ve put together my favourite dinning locations surrounding Broken Bay.

This months staff profile features my mother, Lucy Macnaught. A wonderful woman who has had a tremendous, beneficial impact on Boating Partnerships since the beginning. A lady that has brought long-term stability and loyalty, fabricating the benefits of a family business. Again, we educate you with our ‘Refresh Your Knowledge’ article reminding you of the simple rules when you’re out on the water. We will continue to take further cleaning measures both inside and outside of all our vessels, reinforcing the highest standard of health and safety in order to minimise the affects of COVID-19. We trust you have all been keeping safe and will continue to follow the rules led by governing authorities. We are looking forward to continuing the luxury lifestyle and owner experience we provide in the upcoming warmer months.

 Riviera expands to meet demand

JULY 21, 2020

Australia’s largest luxury motor yacht builder, Riviera, is expanding its 14-hectare production facility to meet international and domestic demand and the company’s growing number of new motor yacht models.

The multimillion-dollar new development works currently under way include extension of the factory’s final fitout capability by increasing the facility’s volume by more than 20 per cent.

Once this stage of the expansion program is completed, the works will allow Riviera to bring the majority of its final fitout under one roof, further enhancing quality, lead times and annual volume.

Over the past year, the company produced more than 100 motor yachts from across the 20-model range, more than half of which have been exported. These latest works will expand capacity as further new additions to Riviera’s model range are released.

Forty years of evolution are expressed in Riviera’s growing range of Flybridge, SUV and Sport Yacht range, and more recently the addition of the larger Sports Motor Yacht collection.

Riviera’s flagship Sports Motor Yacht design was launched in 2018 and the company in June this year celebrated a milestone with the completion of the magnificent Alberlee, Hull 20 of the Riviera 72 Sports Motor Yacht for a new owner in Western Australia.

The current facility expansion also includes a new location for Riviera’s New Model Development team of over 35 craftspeople and 13 designers, engineers, naval architects, draftsmen and master boatbuilders, bringing them together in a large and dedicated facility.

“These latest development works represent a substantial investment in meeting the needs of our yacht owners,” said Riviera owner Rodney Longhurst.

“Our current expansion program allows us to further enhance the design and luxury of today’s Riviera motor yachts and prepare for our future demand as exceptional new models are introduced to the Riviera model line-up.”

 Staff Profile - Lucy Macnaught

What is your role with Boating Partnerships and what led you into this role?

My role is in administration for Boating Partnerships, chiefly looking after all the accounts, payrol and assisting our MD, Tom. I helped Tom from the start of the business with bookkeeping and as the business grew my job extended into taking over the accounts with the accountants to streamline all our processes adding to the very professional company that Boating Partnerships has been from the start.   Prior to working with Tom I had thirty years in a chiropractic clinical practice. I also spent four years helping my husband in the financial industry.

Do you believe there are benefits of a family business?

I do believe having family working in a business can be a very positive experience. As Tom's Mum I felt immensely proud of his achievements from the time he saved for his first boat as a little boy doing paper runs at 5am every day.  Tom was driven to have a "boat business" from the start and that passion is evident today when I see him in action with his clients and the incredible boats in his fleet.  Family share that passion and desire for the business to succeed. There is a huge element of trust and comfort knowing that you can rely on a family member to see things through. Tom is such a genuine, kind and loyal person and is easy to work with.

Since you have been a part of Boating Partnerships from the beginning, what has the growth of the business been like?

The growth of the business has been nothing short of extraordinary and I put that down to the loyal, hard working staff that support Tom, a great network of contractors that he trusts and most of all the integrity and passion of Tom that drives the business forward.

What do you like most about Boating Partnerships?

I love the air of excitement and adventure that you breathe when you work into the offices at Rushcutters or Akuna Bay.  It is always a positive and happy day for me being amongst such a lovely warm group of people who are all dedicated to their work and the company.

What do you believe makes Boating Partnerships stand out from other boating lifestyles options?

What stands out is the friendliness and professionalism of the staff and contractors who work with the company but most of all, and I'm not biased, I think Tom has developed great relationships on the waterfront over the last twenty years. People trust and respect him, his generous spirit and the way he cares for his clients personally.

What features of the business do you think are the most valuable?

Boating Partnerships offers fantastic lifestyle options on the water that so many people could not achieve on their own. Owning shares in a syndicate with the partnership of a great staff to look after you couldn't be better than what BP has to offer.

Refresh Your Knowledge

This month we familiarise ourselves with lateral marks. Just like all navigational marks and signs, identifying what they mean will allow the skipper to pass them safely on the correct side. When talking about lateral marks we focus on port and starboard marks.

Port markers are red and active. These will alert the skipper with a red flash. Refer to the diagram to view the variety of different shapes of the Port Marker.

Starboard markers are green and will alert the skipper with a green flash. Refer to the diagram to view the variety of different Starboard markers. If ever you see both the port and starboard marks near to each other, navigate your vessel between the two marks.

Single lateral marks usually wont be placed in pairs, therefore they will give you the choice to navigate your vessel on the safest side. The safe side of a lateral navigation marker is determined by your direction of travel to, or from, the sea. The saying we like to use is ‘Green to green when going up stream. Green to red when seas are ahead’.

Keep red (port hand marks) on your left hand side (to port) when going upstream.

Reviewing these simple marks and signs will ensure you are feeling comfortable and safe while on the water. Being an owner with Boating Partnerships provides you with a minimum of 2 days training on your own boat with our experienced skippers. As rules and regulations alter between states, refer to your local handbook for more information.
