 NOTE FROM MANAGING DIRECTOR

As we begin the new year, we continue to welcome additional staff especially based in Queensland’s, Gold Coast. These new members of our team have been warmly welcomed by all of our owners and will work beside us in achieving the ultimate boating lifestyle.

We are excited to start the year off with our first E-Magazine for 2021. As we reach the end of our staff-profile articles, we are excited to announce we will be introducing various new segments throughout the months. Keep an eye out!

One of the last members to introduce to you is one of our boat care professionals Jake Bennett. Lauren sat down with Jake to talk about his experience with Boating Partnerships and his passion for audio engineering and music production.

We are excited with the announcement of yet another stunning Riviera model, the 645, now the flagship of the SUV range.

In light of last month's Refresh Your Knowledge article, we have decided to follow this weather theme once again. Grasping a deeper understanding of low and high-pressure systems will allow you to determine the offshore conditions before heading out on your boat.

Our owners here at Boating Partnerships have access to our extended services. We have put together an owner experience article that refers to our fishing guides, suited for all sorts of occasions.

We had the pleasure of talking to Paul, a previous client that we worked with in managing his 6000 Sport Yacht. He gave us the time to speak about his experience with Boating Partnerships and why it suited him.

Going into 2021, I am excited to be leading such a formidable team of people and look forward to the future with great anticipation.

STAFF PROFILE

This month we talk to Jake Bennett, one of our Boat Care Professional at Boating Partnerships. An experienced worker who takes pride in making sure when owners step on their Riviera, the vessel feels brand new every time.

My love of the ocean came at a very young age. I enjoyed sailing on my Grandpa’s boat every weekend as a child. I also began surfing, particularly long-boarding around the Northern Beaches.

In my personal time, I play drums in two bands, Sons Of The East and Don West. In 2019 I went on tour in Europe for 3 months gaining more inspiration to work on my own music.

Since then I’ve also developed my skills in audio engineering and furthered my knowledge of music production. I intend to release my own music sometime in the not to distant future.

I joined Boating Partnerships close to 2 years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed working with them. The training and teamwork involved with this business is what makes the business run so smoothly. I enjoy working with Lucas and Grant because we have similar personalities and all enjoy being around the water.

Grant, whilst being a fellow musician and a very talented guitarist, is always up for a laugh and shares knowledge of his experience.

Lucas is definitely one of the better bosses I’ve had over the years. His dedication to his role as operations manager and family man is unrivalled. I hope to one day follow in his path.

Working out in the fresh air, overlooking some of the most exceptional views in Sydney is something I definitely don’t take for granted. With people like Grant and Lucas, I look forward to supporting the luxury boating lifestyle further.

 REFRESH YOUR KNOWLEDGE

Arduino-BMP180-Tutorial-High-Pressure-vs.-Low-Pressure-Weather-Diagram.png

Due to the popularity of the December E-Magazine ‘Refresh Your Knowledge’ weather topic, we have decided to put together a four part series to enhance your knowledge on weather systems and forecasts.

In this series we grasp a deeper understanding of low and high-pressure systems allowing you to determine the offshore and inshore conditions before heading out on your boat.

High-pressure systems are regions of sinking air. Initially, they were called anti-cyclones due to the air-pressure travelling anticlockwise. Clear skies and fair weather will usually occur in these regions. Also known as an anticyclone, highs are a system consisting of closed isobars surrounding a region of high pressure. They mainly cover a greater area, move more slowly and have a longer life. When over land, the weather will be typically more dry with clear skies.

Screen Shot 2021-02-11 at 3.49.15 pm.png

Low-pressure systems  are regions of rising air that travel in a clockwise direction. Clouds, rain, and strong winds will usually occur in these regions. As the rising air cools, clouds begin to form. The instability of the air will create clouds followed by rain-showers. Low-pressure systems are also known as depression and cyclones.

An elongated extension of isobars away from a low-pressure centre is known as a trough of low pressure. This trough usually contains one or more cold fronts.

East Coast Low

You may have heard of the term ‘East Coast Lows’ which, refers to an intense low-pressure system that will happen many times off Australia’s eastern coast, every year. East coast lows produce heavy rainfall, powerful winds, and thunderstorms. East Coast Lows will generally intensify quickly over a period of 12-24 hours making them one of the more dangerous weather systems to affect the eastern coast.

To reiterate our November issue, we have shared the ‘Interactive Weather and and Wave Forecast Maps’ below, highlighting the differing pressure systems.

RIVIERA NEWS

Riviera welcomes record number of apprentices in 2021

Riviera has welcomed a record intake of new apprentices for a second consecutive year as the company heads into 2021 with the largest future orders in the company’s 41 years of operation.

A total of 41 new apprentices joined the Riviera team at the company’s Gold Coast boatbuilding facility this week following an extensive recruitment program during the year. Riviera welcomed 33 new apprentices this time last year.

The latest intake has increased apprentices working with the 600-strong team to 89.

Riviera’s Safety and Training Manager, Adam Houlahan, said more apprentices were being recruited to meet continued growth.

“The apprentice program at Riviera is an important part of our commitment to developing the master craftsmen and women of the future,” said Mr Houlahan.

“Each of our apprentices receives intensive training to create world-class luxury motor yachts.”

The benefits of a record apprentice recruitment over consecutive years will be felt in years to come for Riviera once the carefully selected recruits have achieved certified qualifications in their respective trades.

Riviera has an outstanding retention rate in its apprenticeship program, adding to the extensive skills of the team in all areas of boatbuilding.

More than 300 apprentices have now graduated from the Riviera program since its inception almost 30 years ago and many are still part of the company’s team of qualified and highly awarded craftspeople.

“Developing skills for the future plays an important role in not only Riviera’s manufacturing growth, but more broadly in the future of the Australian-based marine industry,” said Riviera owner Rodney Longhurst.

“We have a proud history of training and enhancing the skills of our team and that has allowed us to create luxury motor yachts that are recognised the world over for their quality, luxury and engineering excellence”

THE WORLD PREMIERE OF THE 645 SUV, 2021

‘Freedom and adventure on a grand scale’

The Riviera design team in collaboration with 4D designs have created this unique motor yacht. And everything about Riviera’s 645 SUV is impressive. The 645 has the largest water sports and fishing cockpit of all the models in our SUV Collection. When the alfresco deck opens up to our most spacious SUV saloon and galley, the single-level living plan is spectacular. And of course the 645 offers our largest SUV accommodation deck with a full-beam master stateroom. Choose three or four staterooms with three bathrooms plus an optional lower lounge and crew cabin, utility room or additional accommodation.

The three-seat helm station is expansive and the stand-up engine room is equally generous. And when it comes to performance, the twin shaft drive MAN turbo diesel engine options are the most powerful on offer in our SUV range.

You can personalise your 645 SUV with an array of interior packages and two design styles, the more traditional Classic Edition or avant-garde Newport Edition. Whichever you choose, from boarding platform to bow, you’ll relish the Riviera attention to detail, handcrafted luxury and exceptional operational technology.

Picture yourself on board your Riviera 645 SUV, exploring the great waterways of the world, diving in the Bahamas, or sport fishing on the Reef. Magic.

TESTIMONIAL

Screen Shot 2021-02-15 at 3.22.57 pm.png

We sat down with owner of the 6000 Sport yacht Paul, to discuss his experience with the management we provided him previously here at Boating Partnerships.

“Overall, my experience with Boating partnerships comes down to two main aspects.

Firstly, I’m a relatively inexperienced boat owner so this was my first venture into the world of big boats, therefore I was fairly apprehensive about it all. However, I wanted this venture to be made purely from a lifestyle perspective. From that it was so great and handy for me to have Boating Partnerships on call whenever I needed. They answered all my questions such as “what does this button or light mean” or  “wheres a good place to go on this day, in this wind”. To have that ability to make a call and be given an answer straight away, that for me was really critical.

The second aspect is regarding the fact that I lead a pretty busy lifestyle and don’t have a lot of spare time, so to be able to have the boat looked after constantly and consistently like it was one of their own boats, brought me a great sense of comfort.

Due to the relationships with contractors, every issue was fixed in the most efficient and beneficial way. For example, one of the main batteries failed, and it would take me on my own about a month to sort it out but Boating Partnerships sorted it out within 4 hours. The local knowledge and guidance provided to me also heightened my experience as they advised me on places to eat and the best fish to get ect. Had I been on my own, I wouldn’t have enjoyed my boat or the experience nearly enough as I have been with Boating Partnerships.

As well as that, the cleaning was also always very regular. No complaints, only praise. I never felt that we were overspending on things. The team always had my backing by running the whole service.

I asked early on in the process what the management fee was and I was told, trust me that is the best part of the whole experience. That it gave me the right to call you at any time of the day. The greatest example of this was on my sons boat you weren't even managing My wife was having some trouble while I was away and you were down there in 20 minutes to take care of it without any issues. That was the moment I knew you guys ran a very special business, very bespoke, always focused on the customer, you deserve every success that you get. That's simply how I feel about it.”

Paul, former owner of the 6000 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition.

 OWNER EXPERIENCE

Owners at Boating Partnerships have access to concierge services that provide them with the luxury VIP experience they deserve.

Fishing Trip to Wedding Cake Island, Sydney

Fishing Trip to Wedding Cake Island, Sydney

One of the many owner experiences available here at Boating Partnerships is the opportunity to arrange fishing guides so our owners can sit back and relax while being in the capable hands of an experienced fishing guide. As many of our boats do not carry all the necessary fishing equipment, the guide will not only bring the idea but all the gear! For those of you who are experienced and keen fisherman already, our guides can further enhance your knowledge by showing you new methods and secret locations to guarantee fish each time.

Giant Trevally caught near ‘The Oval’ approximately 25mile north-east off the Whitsunday Islands.

Fishing guides can also be for beginners that want to learn the ropes from an experienced professional or those that simply want to share an experience with their family and friends.

No matter the location, fishing guides can be arranged year-round and can supply all the necessary gear and bait.

In Sydney our fishing guide Steph, showed owners Wedding Cake Island, approximately one kilometre east of Coogee beach. In luck with the beautiful weather, Steph was able to share his methods with the owners, which allowed them all to catch tasty kingfish just in time for lunch.

In the Whitsundays our fishing guide Matt, displayed the technique of trolling lures, which ultimately resulted in catching many different species including this magnificent giant Trevally.
