NOTE FROM MANAGING DIRECTOR

2020 has been a rollercoaster but the cooperation and communication presented this year has been remarkable. It has been wonderful to see all our owners have the freedom to celebrate the start of the warmer months as restrictions ease with guest limits.

As the boarders are opening, we are excited to be delivering our brand new 5400 Sport Yacht, which will relocate the East Coast of Australia between 5 owners. I look forward to hearing about the experiences from our new owners as they enjoy their brand new Riviera.

This months testimonial comes from Tony Farren, who expresses the positive experience he had moving from the 6000 Sport Yacht to buying into our brand new 5400 Sport yacht. He talks about the support that he previously received with Boating partnerships, this being a big factor into buying into a new boat with us.

This month we introduce to you our office administrator, Sabrina. Sabrina plays a big part behind the scenes providing office and accounts support, that allows for a vitally smooth-running business.

Given recent questions around launching the tender aboard your Riviera Sport Yacht, we have added to our ‘Refresh Your Knowledge section’ with an overview of this process. With these simple steps, a smooth operation will take place, avoiding any damaging consequences.

With New Years Eve sneaking up to us, the time has come to plan your celebratory night once again. Unfortunately the 9pm fireworks will not be running this year while strict rules are in place around the harbour. Thus, owning a boat is the perfect opportunity to gain front row seats overlooking the midnight fireworks.

A quick reminder, as we are entering the busiest time of year, to please give us plenty of notice for any extended services that you want to book in for example catering, skippering and stewardess services.

Tony Farren - Moving from the 6000Sport Yacht into our brand new 5400 Sport Yacht

“Joining a new syndicate with Boating Partnerships was an easy decision. They’re honesty and openness was what attracted us to them. During our first experience in the 6000SY, we felt confident that the staff members Tom employed were experienced professionals. The training was remarkable and our skippers and cleaning staff always did a very good job. We definitely didn’t have any complaints about the quality of the work.

Buying into a brand new boat mean’t we could make some choices on the design. We were able to have a say in the name of the boat and add a few personal touches such as the paint colour.

The running costs are excellent as the boat is lighter and shorter, yet still satisfies our needs to bring friends on board with us. Having a new boat will help me with the resale value, which is a huge incentive for others wanting to buy into a new boat.

We cannot fault the Partnership Platform Tom has created. Our experience with the calendar on our 6000SY felt effortless. It’s a program that allows for flexibility and fairness. With Tom’s knowledge and experience, all owners were able to be very open-minded. Having a manager that could look into it on a personal level was the reason to come back as we felt there was always room for movement.

Tom has always made himself available, which is a really good part about being an owner in this company. I was always reluctant to call Tom, but found he is always happy to take calls and answers my questions. On any boat, there can always be issues. Instead of waiting to talk to a service department, Tom was the easiest interaction with a quick resolution. I respect that Tom will give up a Sunday afternoon to answer a call. That’s what makes my boating experience very comforting”.

REFRESH YOUR KNOWLEDGE

The launching and retrieval process of your tender is very important in order to avoid damaging your boat or injuring yourself or others. Therefore, we have put together a series of steps that we recommend you should follow when launching a tender.

Launching Process

Riviera 6000 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition Tender Garage 01.jpg

STEP 1

Make sure you are safely anchored and are a safe distance from shore and other vessels. Shut down the engines

STEP 2

Ensure the boat mode is in ‘Entertaining’ (4800SY + 5400SY only). If the boat mode isn't in ‘Entertaining’ the swim platform will not go down.

STEP 3

Make sure the garage door is free from obstruction and lift it all the way open when safe to do so.

STEP 4

Place the tender rails in the allocated holes on the swim platform (4800SY/5400SY), ensuring the “higher” side is closest to the garage.

STEP 5

Lower the platform so the top of the rails line up to the bottom of the tender garage. Turn the tender battery switch on and raise the engine off the floor.

STEP 6

Using the winch remote found on the starboard side:

  • Press the down arrow in short increments while pulling the tender backwards

  • Try to keep tender level - you do this by adjusting the platform up and down

  • Lower the platform once the tender is clear of the garage

Retrieval Process

Screen Shot 2020-11-23 at 11.26.42 am.png

STEP 1

Ensure tender is ready for retrieval and engine is raised up. Important to note: Don’t take the bung out yet.

STEP 2

Make sure garage door is free from obstruction and lift it all the way open when safe to do so.

STEP 3

Place the support rails in the allocated position on swim platform (4800SY + 5400SY only). ensuring the “higher” side is closest to the garage.

STEP 4

Lower swim platform until support rails are flush with the guide rails of the tender garage.

STEP 5

Position vessel with the bow towards the tender garage. Connect the retrieval line to the front of the boat using the clip and D shackle fitted to the bow on the hull.

STEP 6

Using the winch remote, begin winching the boat into the garage ensuring the boat is centred on the garage support floor runners. Once you are about half way in, ensure the angle of the tender hull is at the same level as the garage floor (you can use the swim platform to raise or lower the stern of the tender).

STEP 7

Provided you have completed these steps, continue to pull the tender into the garage until the aft of the tender is flush with the edge of the garage, noting that you may need to slightly lower the outboard to avoid it hitting the roof.

Trim tender engine to appropriate angle to allow sufficient space for the tender garage and swim platform. Don’t forget to then take the bung out!

STAFF PROFILE

This month we talk to one of our staff members that works tremendously hard behind the scenes. Sabrina is our administrations officer that dedicates her time in creating and planning an organised and efficient business operation. Lauren sat down with her this week to talk about her experience with Boating Partnerships.

My name is Sabrina and I am the administration officer at Boating Partnerships. Previous to Boating Partnerships I have always been in the Development and Build/Construct industry. The change of industry has been great though. Since working with this team I have found that the work place is such a fun and comfortable environment and everyone takes pride in what they do. I especially enjoy my time at the Akuna Bay office.

When I’m not working, I’m spending a lot of time with my family. I have two boys, Sebastien (6) and Alexander (4). We spend our time together at the beach, riding our bikes around Narrabeen lake, exploring new places (with waterfalls) and sometimes simply enjoying watching a movie together on a rainy day.

We have an old Sparkman and Stephens 30ft sailing boat called Gumeracha. Nothing fancy but what we enjoy about it is it gets us to the small beaches such as Store Beach in Manly which is our favourite spot to go. If we get lucky, we get the beach all to ourselves. We motor or sail to Watsons Bay and grab fish and chips at Doyles. My most memorable one was watching the New Year fireworks from the boat, it was magic. I’ve also recently tried stand up paddle boarding and I am hooked.

When I get the time off I love traveling with my family. Before the Covid saga we would make sure we go for a skiing trip every year. Our last trip was in December 2019 to the Philippines and Japan. I would love to go back to New York as it's one of my favourite cities.

I love working with Boating Partnerships as I believe Tom has achieved so much this far with a such a strong supportive team and still continues to evolve and adapt.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I book in to use my boat?

Owners book in days with our online partnership platform, which is an easy to use system that opens 2 months before each term starts. Furthermore 3 months prior to the term opening owners have the ability to request special days (i.e anniversaries, birthdays) which moderates the ideal allocation to all owners. This stops everyone jumping on in a panic and randomly booking out days. It is a system we designed and manage, allowing ease of access and technical support when needed. You can log on via phone or computer.

Why isn’t fuel, cleaning and laundry included in my monthly ongoing fee?

These usage costs are charged depending on how you use the boat, in effect if you bring a clean boat back, i.e. remove rubbish/hose the boat/put covers on you will be charged less than if you have returned a dirty boat and do nothing. Laundry costs are determined on whether you used the beds and bath/beach towels provided and fuel is charged as per the amount that you use.

What ownership do I have over this boat?

You enter a tenancy in common with your other owners so you have actual ownership of the share in the boat. It’s similar to an apartment block where all owners have equal ownership to their portion of the asset. Each owner then pays their allocation of the running costs into an independent bank account solely for that asset.

Is it possible to organise catering and a skipper with you?

Yes! we have skippers and Stews at the ready for when best suits the owner. We offer many catering packages allowing you hop on your boat with food and drinks pre-organised. After a relaxing day, all you need to do is hop off the boat and we will clean up the rest.

How many days a year can I use the boat?

All owners receive equal use of the boat with popular days and public holidays evenly split. The structure varies depending on the location and amount of owners. For example vessels based in Hamilton Island are generally used a week or two at a time, with 4 weeks per annum allocated for maintenance. For vessels based permanently in one location, 1/6 owners receive 56 days per year, 1/5 owners receive 64 days per year and 1/4 owners receive 84 days per year, plus unlimited standby days. These days are then divided between four 3 month terms.

Can I drive my boat or will I need to hire a skipper?

You can absolutely drive your own boat once you’ve completed your two day extensive training program. The program includes offshore cruising, night navigation, berthing, anchoring and operating all systems and equipment to ultimately make owners confident. But if you would prefer to sit back and relax with your guest we have some very experienced skippers that can take you where ever you desire.

 NEW YEARS EVE UPDATE

shutterstock_1271185030.jpg

The NSW Government have taken responsibility for the delivery of the celebrations in Sydney this year.

New Years Eve is fast approaching, thus we need to have ourselves prepared and ready. Rules and regulations have recently been updated to ensure we are safe and aware when on the water. Compared to previous years, our celebrations will need to be toned down to ensure everyone stays safe. There will be a brief array of fireworks at midnight, which will be displayed on ABC TV.

Unfortunately, there will be no 9pm fireworks or activities around the harbour as well as strict rules in place in order to control crowds. The NSW Government is recommending everyone to either book ahead or celebrate from home. To have access into the circular Quay foreshore and North Sydney precincts, you will need to have access to a New Years Eve Pass.

The beauty of owning a boat gives you access to front row seats on the harbour for the midnight firework display. Owners and operators should be aware of the speed limits and the Exclusion Zone that will be in place.
