INDEX

NOTE FROM MANAGING DIRECTOR

As we come to the end of 2020, I’ve taken the time to reflect on the year Boating Partnerships has had. Seeing the company continue to grow, and overcoming the challenges faced this year by many, has lead to a sense of fulfillment as 2020 comes to a close.

In this E-Magazine we explore the key developments that occurred in 2020 for Boating Partnerships, including the opening of our second office at Akuna Bay, the build process of the recently delivered 5400 Sport Yacht with 5 owners that will cruise the east coast, the launch of our E-magazine as well as the expansion of our wonderful team this year.

With the recent delivery of our brand new 5400 Sport Yacht we are happy to see its lucky five owners currently enjoying the Gold Coast waterways. We share some of the completed photos of this magnificent, state of the art vessel below.

This month we complete our final staff profile with our stewardess, Hannah Mosley, followed by the collection of all staff articles we have put together this year. Please take the time to view their stories and roles as they show their passion to contribute to the luxury lifestyle in a variety of ways.

In our 'Refresh Your Knowledge' article this month, we visit weather maps and the meaning of the dashing lines, cryptic numbers, and curves. The knowledge that owners need to familiarise themselves with, and important to check every time before using their boat.

While 2020 has had its many challenges, Boating Partnerships has and continues to cooperate effectively and enforcing appropriate rules dedicated to keeping all owners safe. We would like thank every one in the Boating Partnerships family for doing their bit.

I want to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to our family here at Boating Partnerships, our owners, staff, contractors, and everyone that has contributed to the luxury boating lifestyle we offer. We look forward to the exciting year 2021 will bring.

 A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE - 2020

2020 has brought on the launch of our E-Magazine. A platform that allows our readers to gain a deeper insight into Boating Partnerships. Each month we aim to inform, inspire and update our readers on all areas of the luxury boating lifestyle. Every edition is filled with stories and advice from our current owners, plus the latest news, articles to refresh your knowledge, upcoming events, and much more. The E-Magazine is a place to enhance communication and create an owner experience, a community. We are so proud of this new addition to our company and we look forward to sharing more to come in the new year.

COVID-19…who could have predicted! We adjusted the way we operated, and implemented new protocol and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our owners and staff.

Despite the uncertain times, we continued with our plan in opening our second office at d’Albora Marina, Akuna Bay. This exciting expansion has led to creating a new desired location in the Pittwater area.

We were also able to partner with Weathershine Productions in July to create our company and location videos. A monumental moment was formed as exceptional footage was put together to represent Boating Partnerships and the services we provide.

Following August we announced that the brand new Riviera Platinum 5400 Sport Yacht had begun the first stages of the build process for its excited owners. We documented this process, shown in the link below.

This year our team here at Boating Partnerships has expanded more than any other year. We have welcomed our Office Administrator Sabrina Stirling, our Boat Care Professional, and skipper Simon Murnaghan and Stewardess Hannah Mosley. A team of pure professionals with constant determination and work ethic that have truly out done any team I have worked with.

Following the successful delivery of our brand new 5400 Sport Yacht the decision was made to order another 5400 Sport Yacht along with a brand new 395 SUV.

The first few months of 2020 began on an unbelievable note, bushfires, giant hailstorms, and damaging winds. This was then followed with the challenging news in April as we learned of the spread of COVID-19. As 2020 comes to an end, we have reflected on the obstacles we have overcome and what we have achieved, and we are excited for the plans we have for the future.

 STAFF PROFILE - HANNAH

Here at Boating Partnerships, we ensure our services go above and beyond the management of an average vessel company. Part of our extended services is that we can offer stewardesses for when you want to just sit back and relax. Hannah is one of our team that takes part in making sure you receive the luxury boating lifestyle you deserve. Lauren sat down with Hannah this week to talk about her experience with Boating Partnerships.

Hannah -

“My lifestyle has always revolved around the water. Living down by Balmoral beach growing up was something I have always been so grateful for. Morning walks along the promenade, swimming, and being out in the sun are simple things that bring a lot of happiness to my life.

A little bit about me. I am in a family of six with two sisters and a brother. I am the eldest child thus I have had to take on a lot of responsibility growing up, which I have enjoyed. I went to Queenwood School for Girls and now I’m studying for a business degree online at Wollongong University. When I’m not working, I enjoy socializing with friends, exploring new beaches on my friend's Brig, and exercising.

Being a stewardess for Boating Partnership has allowed me to enhance this lifestyle for others. When the owners bring friends and family onboard to entertain, I make sure they are enjoying their experience just as much as their guests.

My experience here at Boating Partnerships is something I’m very grateful for. Working with a group of people that are all such positive and supportive people is awesome. Everyone takes their role very seriously and with such determination.”

 REFRESH YOUR KNOWLEDGE

Reading a Weather Map

We see weather maps everywhere! If it’s on the news, online, or an app, there are always places to identify what the weather is doing. This month we want to familiarise you with weather maps and what the dashing lines, cryptic numbers, and curves mean. Before going out on your boat it is important to check for any warnings, especially if wind changes or storms are predicted.

A weather map is a simple representation of the weather patterns at the surface of the earth. The diagram to the right shows us the symbols represented on a map and what they mean.

Isobars

Isobars are the plain black lines curving across the weather map that indicate the flow of air around weather systems. They connect points with the same mean sea level air pressure. The more detailed charts will have numbers on them showing the value in hectopascals (hPa). To put it simply, the winds are strongest where the isobars are closest together. Therefore, lighter where the isobars are widely spaced.

Cold Front

A cold front is a borderline between warm air and relatively cooler air. The symbol that represents a cold front is a blue line with small blue triangles (chosen due to the similarity to little icicles.) As the two different air temperatures mix the warm air rises, cools, and condenses into cold droplets. This is where we can expect to see a blanket of cloud on the leading edge of the cold front, which can form rain. A change in wind direction or drop in temperature can also be associated with cold fronts.

Warm Front

The symbol of a warm front consists of a red line with semi-circles (chosen due to the similarity of a sun rising, bringing warmth). Warm fronts take over the position from the cool air steadily. Even though they bring warmer air, doesn’t mean to say better weather conditions. Rainfall and grey skies with humid conditions are a possibility.

Riviera in history – the years from 2011 to 2015

by Denby Browningon November 25, 2020

In the seventh of our series of articles looking back over 40 years of Riviera evolution, we explore the period from 2011 to 2015.

The Riviera team, along with the rest of the world, settled into a new reality after the wide-spread impact of the Global Financial Crisis and set their sights on building towards a new generation of luxury boats.

The first from the drawing board was the 53 Enclosed Flybridge, launched in 2011. Visually she drew on the raked hull windows introduced in the 43 Open Flybridge the previous year and added a new, and very different curve in the main saloon window. The propulsion system followed the success of 43 Open – Volvo Penta IPS first seen on a Riviera in the 4400 Sport Yacht.

In the same year a Series II version of the 61 Enclosed Flybridge was launched, featuring the new raked hull windows. Riviera also released a Series II of the popular 4400 Sport Yacht.

The dominating word in world events that year was Fukushima, one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded hit Japan’s main island.

The number one song in Australia that year was Party Rock Anthem by American dance music due Redfoo and Skyblu. It was pushed into second around the world by Adele’s Rolling in the Deep. Music had changed dramatically since Split Enz and Queen in 1980!

Then came 2012.Riviera experienced a rebirth as Gold Coast businessman and long-term Riviera enthusiast Rodney Longhurst stepped forward to take control and persuaded retired CEO Wes Moxey to leave his farm and return to the leadership. Mr Moxey had also utilised his time after leaving Riviera in 2008 to develop a new motor yacht brand, Belize. The two men agreed that Belize should be integrated into the Riviera range. These included the Belize 54 Sedan and 54 Daybridge.

Longhurst and Moxey had an immediate impact. Back in private ownership, the Riviera team had a new spring in their step and introduced a new pioneering line of motor yachts – the SUV. This new design brought together two successful lines – the flybridge design and the sport yacht – to create one smart new package. Here were all the benefits of the flybridge on a single level so much loved in the Sport Yacht. The first was the 445 SUV, closely followed by the 565.
